At Saddle River Fire Prevention, our primary mission is to protect life and property by ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, enhancing the safety and efficiency of first responders and the public during emergencies. We carry out a variety of duties including conducting thorough inspections of borough businesses, overseeing housing resale inspections, and initiating public education programs to uphold the highest safety standards. Additionally, we are committed to detailed fire investigations to ascertain their origin and cause, in compliance with NJ Fire Code 5:71-3.3.
Our team includes a per diem Fire Marshal and Deputy Fire Marshal, both certified NJ Fire Officials, Fire Inspectors, and Fire Investigators. We also have a per diem Fire Inspector certified in NJ fire inspection. Supporting our efforts are three volunteer Fire Investigators, certified in fire investigation. Together, we are dedicated to creating a safe and prepared community through diligent prevention and education efforts.
Tips For Fire Safety
- Install smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
- Test smoke alarms every month. If they’re not working, change the batteries.
- Talk with all family members about a fire escape plan and practice the plan twice a year, especially with young kids.
- Make sure that kids are familliar with what firefighters look like. In an emergency kids will often run and hide from firefighters.
- If a fire occurs in your home, GET OUT, STAY OUT and CALL 911 FOR HELP. Never go back inside for anything or anyone.
